I saw a post on the Internet when researching about Balaur saying this was a flightless bird. Do you think it's a bird or a dinosaur?

It really baffles me how a pheasant-sized avialan was once thought to be a six-foot double-clawed dromaeosaur. Well I guess times change and this time they changed in a most interesting way!

The size is still roughly the same minus the smaller expected tail. It's more massive than you'd expect it to be because it's a terrestrialized bird, like a kea or a kakapo (both very large parrots).

Just fascinating analysis, so much to think! Nonetheless, as it was in Avialae I imagine it with slight longer, even more "S" shaped neck and a bit smaller head. But who knows now :) And see, even in taphonomy, first and second foot digits are curved like in Dromaeosauridae, so it's their natural position caused by tendons... tension, I guess.

Shenzhuraptor/Jeholornis and a cross with something basic like Microraptor.

Excellent work!  This new theory really seems to fit the evidence better than the original one. :)

Those feet are so strange... it's hard to believe this is actually a feature of the animal, not a mutation like a polydactyl cat.

Swifts have similar feet, so it's not too weird, but yeah, it was pretty unusual to realize.

Even weirder than the original interpretations! It is great to finally have a good candidate for an example of island-gigantism in mesozoic theropods.
