Description

Citipati osmolskae, named for the Buddhist spirit represented the master of the graveyard and for the recently deceased Polish paleontologist Halszka Osmolska whose works has greatly advanced study of Mongolian dinosaurs.

The skeletons represent what is currently known for the taxon, and are approximately sized compared to the skull of the right skeleton, which is from the holotype specimens, GIN 100/979. The second specimen without the skull is from another skeleton that has yet to be described, GIN 100/1004.

The left and right sides are not perfectly preserved, but between the two, the limbs are completely known for both specimens, and they are shown complete here for the sake of completeness. Height of the dorsal neural spines are projected, and are possibly not complete. There are 2-3 sacrals, which are revealed on the left side, and the ilium is known from the right only, but placement here on the left obscures this minor detail.
