General vs Specific

Description

Some dinosaurs have what looks to be a general, "expected" skull shape. It even tends to pretend it's "mediocre," however much fame it might get. That's Velociraptor mongoliensis right there.

Others, however, cause little problems when they have to be dealt with when collating data. Say, you're trying to measure average lengths or something. Oviraptorids, and it seems oviraptorosaurs in general, are so unusual that some analyses have to consider taking them out just to attempt to figure out whether they have an effect. That's "Big Beak" right there.
