Update: Changing this into a slightly more legible format, and better for "at a glance" interpretation. Also, I had the positions of mAMEM and mAMEP reversed, for some reason. This has been corrected.
In connection with my post(s) on the ongoing project to recover the oviraptorid cranial anatomy, these are the detailed muscle maps for a generalized oviraptorid, based casually on "Big Beak," the uncatalogued (perpetually touring) PIN "conchoraptorine" skull. Color key indicates which muscles, and there are multiple instances of several of these on each view of the skull and mandible. Unfortunately, I never got around to doing a rostral/caudal view of the jaw, so that is missing for the most part. On a given oviraptorid skull, though, these maps would change, and thus some muscles would be larger or smaller than in other taxa. The variation may be significant ... or not.

Well, the holotype of Conchoraptor gracilis (MPC-D 100/20) is a little narrower in the snout, it's also crushed (the skull is in pretty bad shape). This skull is a lot more complete and intact, and though slightly distorted, presents a possible new taxon. It's simply referred to as a "conchoraptorine" for convention's sake.
